Richard Smith Interviews
Richard Smith is one of Frank's associates having worked for JASCO and contributed to his yearbooks. Below is an interview I conducted with Richard about his experiences working for JASCO and more specifically his relationship with Frank Zaic. Richard's account provides a fascinating look into Frank Zaic and the evolution of JASCO from a labor of love for Frank to a profitable enterprise run by his sister Christine. As Richard readily admits - these are his recollections - he doesn't claim to be the authoritative source on Frank Zaic. Just one mans account of what it was like to be around Frank back in the day...

Very interesting beta build proposition on the Jasco Sailwing 50. Put me at the bottom of your list so that if you don't get enough others to step up, I would find it difficult to resist the temptation.
I would be interested. I would caracterize myself as an intermediate builder. Built a lot when I was young and have restarted upon my retirement in 2003. Since then I have built and flown several 2m gliders beginning with GL which I'm now on mu forth version with spoilers and slimed dow fuselage, Crysallis, 2M Riser, and a couple of others.
I'll gladly beta build this craft. Heck anything over here for that mater!!
I've built every Zaic FF glider, the Thermic 50, 70, 100's at least 4 times each. Many Nordic 70-72s, Troopers, Thermic C, etc...
FAA A&P-IA, currently doing kit build log RC Groups Thermal forum Condor-60's Zaic Floater G-110.
Love aircraft wood and fabric work ;-).
If distance is no problem (I live in Israel), I'd love to do a beta-build of the Jasco Sailwing. I've been eyeing your kits for a while now, and waiting for a reason to clear my building table.
I have several scratch build projects behind me, and a gaggle of foamies and ARF's. Almost all of them documented with pictures, and posted either on my own website (www.geocities.com/rene_wallage) or on RCGroups (username Up&Away)
Very interested in the Beta Build of the Jasco SL-50. I have had considerable experience with flying wings of all sizes and my experience could be very useful in working out the subtle nuances to make a flying wing successful and simplifying the building process for those who are new to flying wings.
