I received an email yesterday from Geoff Stewart in New Zealand on his long-awaited maiden flight. Geoff chose to build the sixth scale E model 1-26 which comes out to two meter span. The kit consists of the same parts set as the fifth and new quarter scale designs and builds in the same manner of fully sheeted structures on bulkheads and ribs. Below are his comments and photos.
"Tom, Thought you might be interested in knowing that I
maidened my 1-26 today! It has taken a while but I managed to make it to my
local slope today and launched it into a 20 knot South-westerly breeze. It went
really well and I had a good 40 minute flight. I have attached a few
photos. One with me before I threw it off, plus one before and after shot to
prove it is still in one piece so to speak! Sorry no shots in the air. I
did get some video of the flight but it is pretty bad, I think I need a new
camera."
"Anyway thanks to you for a great model to build and
fly."
"The only adjustment I made was a couple of clicks of down trim after I let it go. The landing was not so glamorous but we got away with no damage."

"As to your question about problems with the
build. It was a long time ago but there might have been a couple of parts
to do with the fin /rudder build that didn't quite fit the plan but it was
easily dealt with. The rest was reasonably straight forward I think. I
would recommend having your own space to build in so your children aren't able
to sit on the fuse and tail!!!"
"Would like to build another of your kits one day.
Still like the idea of a 1-36...."
