I was getting a book down from the shelf in our living room last week when I spotted a log book tucked in next to some other books and the Soaring Final Exam from the SSA. Wow, I didn't remember even getting these books and quickly opened it up to discover that I had filled out the first page with my name and address in 1990 in Lancaster CA.
I flipped the page and there were two flights logged and signed off:
1-27-1990 Flight 1 SGS 2-33 N2905H Aerotow 3000ft release Skylark North 16 minutes
Preflight nose attitude for minimum sink and best glide. 90 & 360 deg turns
1-27-1990 Flight 2 SGS 2-33 N2905H Aerotow 3000ft release Skylark North 16 minutes
Airspeed control exercises, 360 deg turns, pattern & landing (to touchdown)
Now its odd I don't even remember flying the 2-33 but I do remember that our trip to Skylark North was the first day trip I took with my girlfriend Julie, now my wife with two kids. Maybe that explains the loss of memory! I do recall going up in the Blanik but have no recollection of the 2-33 flights. Maybe the instructor miswrote that detail..... but now I'm 32 minutes closer to soloing than I expected!
